NYC Best Hair Restoration For Men

If a receding hairline, thinning hair or noticeable bald patches have you spending your days hiding under a baseball cap, you’re not alone. Known medically as androgenic alopecia, male pattern baldness (MPB) is responsible for a whopping 95 percent of hair loss in the male population, according to the American Hair Loss Association. Up to two-thirds of American men will experience some degree of appreciable hair loss by the age of 35, and if that isn’t a wake-up call, by the age of 50, up to 85 percent of American men will endure substantial hair thinning.

While there are different reasons for substantial hair loss in men, such as diseases, stress, medications, diet and other lifestyle choices, the main culprit for male pattern baldness is genetics. Scientists believe that carriers of the MPB gene have hair follicles that are more sensitive to a hormone called DHT, which gradually shrinks the hair follicle and prevents further hair growth over time.

A general rule of thumb for hair loss is that the sooner it starts, the greater the loss will be. Fortunately, Sadick Dermatology is one of the top clinics in New York for male hair restoration treatments. We offer a myriad of advanced procedures that are safe, effective and uniquely tailored to your individual needs. Our expert staff will work directly with you to determine the root cause of your hair loss through your medical history and thorough health analysis. From these findings, we can design a custom, comprehensive approach to help you restore the natural hair growth of your youth. Dr. Sadick recently spoke at the International Master Course on Aging Science (IMCAS) about the innovations in hair restoration. PRP Injections

Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, is an injectable treatment that utilizes your blood as a catalyst for stimulating the activity in your hair follicles and promoting new hair growth. Your blood is composed of two elements: red blood cells and plasma. It’s your plasma that contains the substance for triggering new hair growth.

Blood platelets found in the plasma are so rich in growth factors and healing properties that they are used to treat a wide range of health and aesthetic concerns, from a pulled hamstring to visible signs of aging. PRP treatments begin by drawing a small amount of your blood and placing it into a centrifuge, which separates the vital plasma and growth factors from the red blood cells. Once the plasma is extracted, it is injected directly into your scalp. The results of this procedure are gradual so that you won’t see improvement right away. After several weeks, you will start to notice the growth factors taking effect, resulting in thicker, fuller hair at the site of your injections. Dr. Sadick recommends receiving PRP treatments every three to six months for optimal regrowth results.

Fue Hair Transplant

A hair transplant treatment harvests hair follicles from areas of the scalp where hair is still abundant and transplants them into the areas that have suffered noticeable hair loss. Follicular unit extraction (FUE) is one of two advanced methods used to transplant hair. In an FUE hair transplant procedure, our team uses a precise extraction technique to remove individual hair follicles directly from your targeted donor area. These extracted particles are then grafted into bald areas of your scalp.

Fut Hair Transplant

Similar to FUE hair transplants, follicular unit transplantation, otherwise known as FUT, is considered the traditional method of hair transplantation. It differs from the FUE method in that instead of individually harvesting hair follicles from the back of your head, a small strip of tissue is removed from the donor site. Dr. Sadick will then extract the individual hair follicles from this strip and use a grafting technique to transfer these follicles into bald areas of your head.

Low-level Light Therapy

Low-level light therapy, also known as LLLT, is another clinically proven and minimally-invasive approach to stimulating hair growth and preventing hair loss. Red or near-infrared laser light has been utilized in the medical community for decades to promote tissue repair and encourage cellular activity. At Sadick Dermatology, we deliver soft red light to penetrate the hair follicles on your scalp through a device called Omnilux. The light energy stimulates hair growth by increasing blood flow to the scalp and shifting dormant follicles into the active phase of hair growth, or the anagen phase. LLLT painlessly stops the progression of further hair loss and promotes thick, healthy new hair growth on your scalp.

Topical Medications

You’ve probably heard of at least a few topical products and medications on the market for hair loss. Minoxidil, known by the brand name Rogaine, is a widely popular over-the-counter medication for treating hair loss in men. While this product has proven effective in treating male pattern baldness in some patients, the one-size-fits-all dosage may not provide optimal results for everyone. At Sadick Dermatology, we compound our topical products for maximum efficacy and potency to reveal your best results. Using these treatments in conjunction with other hair restoration treatments like hair transplants or PRP is a great way to supplement your results long-term.
